Get Fit with Zumba
Losing weight by just doing simple exercise seems to be boring. People in the gym want to have fun while losing weight. And there are lots of group activities that can be done such as aerobics, taebo, pilates to name a few. One of the most trending exercises today is Zumba. It started during the 90s founded by a Columbian dancer. Having attended this Zumba routines in Fitness First Platinum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I became more active in my gym routines. I believe I get more endurance in doing my other cross training activities (as to my level of expertise – I suppose that is not that intense). Well, Zumba really helps me a lot in continuing my regular workout in the gym.
Why is Zumba so popular and so effective in losing weight? A not-so-common or the typical exercise, Zumba has a little bit similar dynamics with aerobics. This kind of exercise includes dance and aerobic elements. The choreography has the integration of hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. And not only that, it also includes squats and lunges as part of its exercise. Ideally, it usually takes an hour when performing the Zumba. This is challenging because the exercise includes music with fast and slow rhythms and resistance training. More so that the music comes from the following dance styles such as salsa, cumbia, merengue, mambo, flamenco, chachacha, reggaeton, soca, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, hiphop and tango. With all of these dance steps combined in just one exercise, who else will not get sweat and toned?
Zumba is good for different ages. Even an elderly can do this kind of exercise as well as the kids. This is also working out the agility in movement as well as flexibility and the ability to dance. Everything in your body is moving from slow to fast movement. So that is why it is very effective in losing weight. The fats and calories are burned especially by moving fast.
Zumba can be of many kinds. There is the Zumba Gold which primarily caters the aged people and is designed specifically to their needs. Another one is the Zumba Toning. This is done by working out with toning sticks. It targets the abs, thighs, arms and other muscles all over the body. It also adds sculpting of the body and cardio. The next is the unique one which is the Aqua Zumba. Obviously, this one is being done in the pool. Also there is the Zumba in the circuit in which the dance is combined with circuit training. For children Zumbatomic is great for them. Though it has the same dance and music style as the usual Zumba fitness class, but it has routines designed especially for kids. Zumba Gold-Toning is another one that is ideal for older participants with main goals if improving their muscle strength, posture, mobility and coordination. Lastly, a chair workout which focuses primarily in using the body weight in order to strengthen and tone the body is the Zumba Sentao.
