When you see these two ridges at the button of F and J buttons on your keyboard, laptop or any keyboard – don’t bother. But it’s interesting to know what they are for?
For many people who touch-type (type without looking), they use these two ridges on F and J buttons to determine the position of their fingers on the keyboard. The proper position for touch typists is to place the index finger of their left hand on F and the index finger of their right hand on J before they type. In this manner, they know where their fingers are at.

But thinking twice, the statement still would not be appropriate to hear like this; Food: The more you eat, the more you get fat.
What is transcription?
Transcription is a form of data entry that involves listening to a recorded audio and/or a video file and then converting it into written form. It is usually done with a software specifically designed for this purpose. The person doing this kind of work is called a transcriptionist.
There are several types of transcription. Among them are medical transcription, legal transcription, corporate or business transcription, and general transcription. The first two requires specialized training and familiarization with their respective technical terminologies, thus making them relatively harder to get into than general transcription. The latter, on the other hand, may include phone conversations, focus group discussions, meetings, seminars, interviews, investigations, television transcripts, and other recordings.
Given these descriptions of transcription, one may deduce that the work of a transcriptionist is indeed very important. It is something that must not be taken lightly, as the written output of his work will be used for reference of employees, researchers, businesses, and other end-users. A transcriptionist must therefore possess a high level of comprehension, good hearing acuity, and correct English grammar, especially since there are times when the audio/video file may not be very clear.

To improve one’s writing is to improve one’s choice of content and context. Content refers to the topic plus the supporting facts or details. Context, like ‘style’ refers to the manner by which the writer addresses his topic. It is dependent on three things: purpose, audience and medium. All three aids in defining what to use in terms of: persona, voice, and words.
Objective Transcription
It is important to have an accurate transcription. The main objective on transcription is to come up with an electronic copy of the voice file. The transcript may or may not be in exact words, but the accuracy should be maintained in such a way that it follows the style guide given by the client.
Transcription is not a literary piece that is formulated using a transcriber’s creativeness but it should represent the idea and thought of the client who wants to have a copy of it electronically.
