Factors That Hinders You To Blog

Having too many topics in mind to blog, sometime you can’t seem to publish them immediately. You are aiming to blog daily but it seems you can’t catch up with routines on a daily basis. Almost every day, new topics are conceptualized in your mind but you can’t get them immediately written. Here are three factors that hinders you to blog the topics in my mind.

Aspiring Transcriptionists

Receiving numerous messages from aspiring transcriptionists allows me to get different stories of their quest to get better jobs. Soon, I hope to provide training materials for serious applicants. Here are some of the messages I received.

By Ysa on Fri, May 7, 2010 at 5:39 PM. “I do like to work home based because it will give me much time to do my domestic responsibilities and at the same time earning extra income for my family. With the surging trend of the internet technology and the handy dandy laptops, I am excited to use such resources and maximize my own potential. It’s been my long time desire to have a laptop where I could just learn about the world at the tip of my fingers. And not to mention generate my own income. Now, that I do have one and the fact that I am working during the day as an ordinary employee with just a manageable workload, I felt the need to still do more work and learn at the same time. I also realized that my current earnings were half as what I used to get when I was a call center agent.

I have been longing to find other means where I could really use my skills. I stumbled upon transcription works through a job ad in the newspaper, I did apply and soared through their assessments and was advised to report for training. But then, I realized it’s just another night job for me. I really dreaded the fact that I have to again, work at night and miss out living during the day. So I decided to find another option. I got hired as soon as somebody resigned with my friend’s company. I found the job quiet challenging and a bit easy. The pay not to mention is enough but definitely I do have a hard time saving.

My gut tells me that there are more options for me to earn extra. I know the web is full of it. It’s only a matter of segregating the legal ones from the scams. I checked info from time to time. I am still curious to know how this home based jobs work and how one can really earn. So I joined several sites, read information about it and here I am applying for my first online job. I do hope I pass this assessment and do as much as I can to help out with Archie’s team and earn for myself.”

And sometimes I did not get to eat that much because I was sticking on what I budgeted. When you are working away from home every move you make needs to spend money. I was not able to save with the money I earned because of the expenses that I had to pay. And so, when I got the chance of going back home in our province and took a vacation, I was able to learn that I could actually work at home if I would want to. All I need is to have my own computer with a fast internet connection. I have friends who informed me about home based jobs. Some of them are in an outbound account, while some of them are in a non-voice account. I was told about the convenience of working at home. It is true that if you are working at home the money that you will be earning can help you not only save enough for yourself but also be able to share it to your parents in paying the bills at home. I don’t have to worry about transportation allowance. I don’t have to worry about getting stuck with heavy traffic. For me, working at home will be the best working place. And I am very sure that I will be able to finish all the tasks that will be given to me on time.”

Since I began studying, I have never had a single chance to have a work experience because my mother wants me to have a focus on my studies. I got jealous with other teens that are working while studying because they can earn for themselves, and the fact that they already have a work experience which they can write on their resumes. But now, I have realized that even without adequate work experience, it’s not a hindrance in stepping into a new world. Everyone was born with nothing. We just had the chance to explore that’s why we have earned knowledge. The more knowledgeable people have just grabbed the opportunity to continually nurture the knowledge that they have, and practice what they have learned.

I can say that I can start to work as a transcriptionist because I know that the knowledge I have earned from my studies is a big help for me in this career. Aside from that, I am not closing my doors in learning new skills that could continually enhance my capabilities to be a better transcriptionist. Finally, I am very much willing to accept any criticisms or corrections from anyone in the team, for these two things are the greatest tools that I could use to assess myself as a transcriptionist, and be the best that I can in this transcribing industry.

Transcriptionist’s Work as Defined by a Non-Transcriptionist

While looking up into a job search database, I stumbled upon ads for transcriptionist, editors, and so on… It came to my senses that this could be a very easy work, until I heard from an old friend about his experience in applying to a transcription company.

I believe that a transcriptionist should be very keen about details. The work involves listening to a voice file regarding conversations, discussions or dictation, then encoding or typing whatever he/she is listening to, at the same time.  A transcriptionist requires the skill of being familiar basically with language (grammar, comprehension, punctuations, literature) a good sense of hearing and ability to understand diction or voice inflections, especially if you will be listening to an audio file with a Western accent. A fairly fast typing skill is also a must. Not only these but also being familiar with the topic of what he or she is transcribing, like for example a medical transcriptionist should posses and extent knowledge regarding medical terms/vocabulary, abbreviations and other matters regarding the medical field in order for one to transcribe effectively and precisely.

I believe that the transcripitionist’s work entails a cycle of understanding, technical skills in writing and knowledge about grammar – one must understand the meaning and context of whatever he/she hears to be able to transcribe it effectively and obtain a quality work. You have to input data accurately and must capture the flow of discussion from what you are hearing into what you will be transcribing. I think that it is a system of listening, writing or encoding and editing work for precise result and obtaining a quality work.

That is how I see the work of a transcriptionist. I am sure that in order to be a good transcriptionist, one must be analytical, learn how to make good use of language, and can multitask, since you are listening and writing at the same time. A transcriptionist must also be committed to work, and be able to meet set deadlines and have the passion to accurately focus in listening and transcribing. Now I came to realize that it is not an easy job – one need to have a handful of talents and skills but could be easy, as long as you have the heart and passion for work and commitment.

As I look around and check the available jobs online, I chance upon the word “home transcriptionist.” It sounds interesting. As I read on and learn more about this job offer, I became more interested about the prospect of using my free time at home into good use by typing a variety of audio materials.

I checked the qualifications and I think I have them all. To start with, transcribing audio materials involves a good listening skill in English. After working for 5 years in the call center industry, I have been so familiar with the foreign language. Couple it with my wide vocabulary in English, I really think this job suits me best. Words or phrases that might be unfamiliar to some people are no longer foreign to me. Besides, I learned multitasking through my job as a customer service representative before. I can type and listen at the same time. Not to mention my typing skills ranges from 35-40 WPM, so I really think I am very much qualified for this home based kind of work. Since I have decided to go home based all the way, I have much free time to accommodate other kinds of jobs that will hone my skills. The skills I have learned in the outsourcing industry have prepared me for a job like this.

What attracts me more is the home based type of work offered to this kind of job. This job will allow me to earn well at the comfort of my home. I will have a more balanced life with the kind of job like this. Earning well and living well.

Feeling Lazy – A Work at Home Problem

feeling lazy

feeling lazy

You wanted to transcribe, but you feel lazy. You wanted to write articles, but you feel lazy. You wanted to proofread your work, but you feel lazy.

Everyone of us experience in one way another feeling lazy whenever we attempt to start our home based transcription job. It is a problem that most of us associate to being at home – we tend to relax a bit. In spite of our much motivation, we are still feeling lazy.

A reader replied with this texts in my Yahoo Answers post.

“Sometimes you feel lazy, if you have lot of relatives, or small children at home.
Then he made a follow up, I guess this is his way of motivation to avoid feeling lazy.

Working at home is actually a benefit in itself. Because you work out of your home this can mean a substantial savings. This savings can consist of day care costs, clothing expenses, traveling expenses, meal expenses, and even time that is taken unpaid. As for benefits themselves, over the past few years many companies are now offering medical benefits, paid time off, pension plans, life insurance, etc. So all in all, being a transcriptionist can be very, very lucrative.”
