Transcription Training

2202
When I decided to enroll in an MT course, I chose MTC Academy for the following reasons:
1. MTC Academy is TESDA certified.
2. It is, as far as I believe, the pioneer in MT education.
3. Convenient location in Buendia, Makati which is a jeepney ride from my work.

I tried as much as possible to fit my schedule at work as a warehouse expediter in Bizu with my training at MTC Academy. But then, I resigned from work a few weeks before I finished my MT course due to some personal reasons. I think I was not happy anymore working as a food technologist.

I learned a lot from my training at MTC Academy. Although, I heard a lot of complaints from other students, I just ignored it and made the most out of what they offer. I would like to commend also the lessons I’ve learned from my mentors. They both made the classroom sessions a more fun yet educational one.

The course lasted from November 2004 to March 2005. Then, what’s next is the on-the-job training.

Well, to really appreciate the career as an MT, an OJT needs to undergo an on-the-job training after the classroom and laboratory sessions. Luckily, after some time of job hunting and taking series of qualifying exams from various MT companies, Touch Asia gave me as well as two others of “The Wizards” a chance to work as an OJT.

I felt like working already as an MT. Well, part of it maybe because we received some allowance for our training, and also we worked with some live audio files.

Summing up, my overall training as medical transcriptionist both in MTC Academy and Touch Asia is truly a fruitful learning experience.

    Hi Archie

Thank you for trusting MTC as your training ground. Indeed, if you are determined to reach your goal, you will pursue it amidst negative “vibes.”

I’m also a product of MTC Academy Cavite City. And now I’m part of their training facility as a mentor. MTCA Makati is still there at Urban Building.

I was also a student of MTC Sucat branch but unfortunately I was not able to complete the whole course because I developed tinnitus which lasted for months affecting my left ear due to labyrinthitis. When I was ready to go back, I found out that that particular school site was closed. I still hope to finish the course though it was already about two to three years ago when I stopped. I don’t know where to go to complete my requirements but I’ve already finished 12 out of 15 modules. I still need to take these modules and would love to take the brainbench exams to qualify as a medical transcriptionist. I hope there is still a chance to go back.

    Hi! Good day.
I can say that it’s true you have to choose what you really want. In almost all career, you are the one to make it successful regardless what and how you started it. I am presently working now as PT, but I am still looking for something that I know I will be good at. I remember back in 2004, I really want to enroll in an MT course but due to financial reasons I did not; so I salute all the MTs.

I believe that it is really important to have the proper transcription training. Transcribing live audio files will not be that easy f you do not have any training. Being a transcriptionist is like “Driving”. You need to practice your skills in order to enhance it. MT course is fun although some may not appreciate it. I am glad that I have finished my course and have been given the certificate and NCII.

Hi, Archie… I’ve read the blog and got interested in going back to school. I have not experienced any transcription work yet, but i want to. I have stopped my studies on another course in college for some reasons, but now, I’m interested to pursue my studies or even check out other field I’d be best suited for.

For now I am interested to be a part of your transcription team, but not the medical one. Hope you can check and evaluate my application.

    Best regards, Archie!

Learning things is challenging and an endless adventure. I say you cannot really choose what you want unless you experience it.Just like what you did, we should be on our best all the time and learn to appreciate the given situation to enjoy life.

I am a registered nurse currently working in a hospital but my compensation isn’t enough to finance my everyday expenditures. I already worked in a BPO company. Although my salary is quite sufficient, I think it is not reasonable because of my work load. So, I am thinking of a part-time or home-based job that would suffice my daily necessities, as well as my simple luxuries. Certainly, a medical/general transcription job is perfect for me. However, I don’t have any formal MT education. Thanks to your blog, I know the right place to go.

  14. Cris Labo-labo says:

Practicing medical transcription will enable you to earn money in the convenience of your own home. Your time is flexible and the amount of work you can finish depends on how eager you are in earning more money. learning the basics is a must. A good school can give you the solid foundation for being a good if not the best medical transcriptionist.

  15. kristine says:

i am registered nurse yet i have no work since almost all hospitals now only accept “volunteers” (no pay) or much worst, you’ll be the one paying just to have an experience. i was able to train as a medical transcriptionist and finished but as of now i don’t have an account working on. as a full-time mom, i would like to have a part-time homebased job to cope up with the expenses, without giving up my career as a full time mom..hope you could give me a chance..

  16. Gerard Dela Cruz says:

I for one is a graduate of MTC. I am a licensed physical therapist and then went to medicine school up to my third year but sadly i quit. I then had a course at MTC for I learned that being an MT could also fulfill my dreams to ba medical personnel as well by completing reports of doctors. MTC Academy gave me a great training to be able to work as a medical transcriptionist that is the reason why up to now I am still working as a medical transcriptionist as an Editor in Innova quest and would want to try home-base as well. This would give me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in my chosen career. Thanks to MTC and to the company who made me now..

  17. Mina Libao says:

I think a lot of people are doing transcription training now. This is mostly due to the fact that there are plenty of available transcription opportunities for jobseekers. And of course, most transcription jobs are home-based, which adds to the appeal.
